full recap.
A friend of mine has been a big fan of Arts Fishing Club for some time so when DoMore303 offered up their show as my monthly activity, I decided to take the free ticket(s) and go. Full disclosure, I hadn’t really listened to them prior to getting the offer for these tickets. My friend is just such a big fan I felt she wouldn’t lead me astray.
I showed up the venue a bit later than I’d like but was able to weasel my way to the front through the side closest to the door. I brought my camera to snag some pictures to send to her but to also test my camera at a different venue. I hadn’t had the chance to use it at Globe Hall just yet and wanted to see what I would be able to get.
When the show started, I was immediately impressed. I knew that I’d like them, but I didn’t expect to fully enjoy them live as much as I did. Their energy was great. During “Tupelo Honey” I FaceTimed my friend (per her request) and I ended up snagging a handful of decent pictures.
This show definitely made me a fan–I can see this band going places. Now more familiar with their music, I’m looking forward to them coming back to Denver in the future.
Just before the night ended, I was able to sneak out after buying a couple of vinyls. Their album, Rothko Sky, hadn’t technically been released yet but they were selling the album on vinyl ahead of the release. Rothko Sky is released on June 15, 2023.
Listen to Rothko Sky below and keep your eye out for Arts Fishing Club on tour.
